Physics puzzlers. There was a time when the App Store was so inundated with them that the mere mention of a new physics puzzler coming out made me sick to my stomach. It was a shame because… physics puzzlers are fun! But things can change, and nowadays while physics puzzlers are still a popular genre it’s not like there are multiple new ones coming out each and every week. I’ve taken a long enough break since overdosing on the genre that I can actually enjoy and appreciate some of the ones that are releasing nowadays. And that is exactly what I’ve been doing with Grejsimojs (Free) which released from developer Joakim Wiborn this week.

I know what you’re thinking: How do you even pronounce Grejsimojs? I’m here to tell you that I don’t know, and I don’t care. The game with the funny name is a good one, which is what matters most. The goal is simple. Get the “my Mac is beach balling” rainbow-colored circle(s) to the checkered goal area in each level. You have a limited build area and a limited number of basic items and gadgets to do this with.

What’s so great about Grejsimojs is how open-ended it is when it comes to completing each level. Like I said the build items are pretty limited, but the physics engine itself is robust enough to let you get very creative building crazy contraptions or vehicles to deliver your rainbow beach ball. And while the first few tutorial levels are simple enough, the training wheels come off quickly and suddenly you’re completely on your own with how to tackle each level.

Sometimes you start a new level, see where your build area is, see where the end goal is, and see the obstacles in-between and think to yourself “There is NO WAY this is possible.” However, start tinkering around and you’ll eventually find a solution that didn’t even enter your mind at first. Is it the solution the developer intended you to find? Who knows! That makes it all the more satisfying. I wouldn’t be surprised if across 10 different levels 10 different players each had 10 wildly different solutions.

It’s great fun, and astonishingly all this fun can be yours for the low low price of… free? Yeah, for whatever reason Grejsimojs is totally free with no ads, no IAP, no data tracking junk, no nothing. The app size is also a slim and trim 30mb, which is nearly unheard of nowadays with most multi-GB games. The plan is to bump the price up to a whopping 99¢ on August 1st, but still, that’s a month and a half of getting this very good physics puzzler totally for free. So don’t even hesitate to go grab Grejsimojs right now and drop by the game’s forum thread to leave your comments about it, seek out solutions to a level, or simply say thanks for an awesome freebie.
